BuddyUp helps people in Hong Kong find others to do things with. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use BuddyUp.
Who can use BuddyUp
You must be 18 or older. One account per person, with a name people actually call you.
Meeting people
- Plans are organised by members, not by BuddyUp. We don’t check hosts, places or people.
- Meet in public places, tell a friend where you’re going, and leave if something feels wrong.
- You are responsible for your own safety and for following the law, including rules on alcohol.
Hosting
- Describe your plan honestly: time, place, what it costs and who it’s for.
- Don’t use BuddyUp to sell things, recruit for businesses or collect people’s details.
- If you can’t make it, cancel the plan so people aren’t left waiting.
Shared bills
BuddyUp records expenses in the group’s currency. Expenses affect recorded balances immediately; a recorded share is not proof that someone agreed to it. Members can dispute their own share. Financial corrections preserve the history and require the affected participants’ agreement.
Send money outside BuddyUp. A sender’s claim does not settle a balance; only the intended recipient can confirm the amount they actually received. We do not verify bank transfers, hold repayment money or offer in-app bank transfers. Group admins cannot confirm receipts on somebody else’s behalf. Gift-card repayments are not available.
Not allowed
- Harassment, hate, threats, or pressuring anyone.
- Fake profiles, spam or scams.
- Anything illegal or unsafe.
We may remove plans or accounts that break these rules. You can report a plan, person, message, recap photo or taxi group from its options menu.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (your profile, photos and plans). You let us show it inside BuddyUp to the people allowed to see it under our Privacy Policy.
No guarantees
BuddyUp is provided as it is. We aren’t liable for what happens at plans organised by members, to the extent the law allows.
Changes and contact
We’ll tell you in the app before these terms change in a way that matters. Questions: [contact email to be added].
